Q. What type of fuel does it burn?
A. This system is designed to burn various types of wood from sawdust to pellets.  The basic texture should be something like “Old Time Sawdust”. Sander dust is too fine and shavings won’t feed.

A. It will burn all wood types .  All wood species have essentially the same amount of energy per pound.
 
Q. What is the ideal moisture level for my fuel?
A. The ideal moisture level is between 10% - 20%.

A. Fuel can be ordered through BFS, we currently have contracted supply for both North Georgia and North Alabama regions.
 
Q. Where do I store my fuel?
A. Fuel should be stored in a partitioned bay in your stack house.

A. The fuel at the furnace is stored in a BFS storage bin that can be loaded with your loader tractor and will hold 32 hours of fuel at maximum burn rate and 54 hours at typical burn rate.
 
Q. What can I expect to pay for fuel?
A. Fuel prices range from as low as $60 / ton for BFS Wood Chips or as High as $200 / ton for Pellets and Corn.

Q. How much heat is in Wood Chips?
A. Wood chips have approximately 7,070 BTU per pound at 10% moisture and 6,070 BTU per pound at 20% moisture.

A. The expected payback is 3 to 5 years.
 
Q. How many heaters does it take to heat a typical poultry house that is 40’ x 500’?
A. 1 Furnace will evenly heat the standard 40' x 500' house.

A. Yes, if your controller has a 24V output available.

A. Yes, Tests have shown that the duct helps move the hot air from the top of the house down to bird level and is also vital to heat the entire length of the house.
 
Q. How long will the duct last?
A. The duct will last for 10 years with proper maintenance and can be repaired easily.
 
Q. Will it burn litter?
A. No, BFS testing shows that litter is not a good source of fuel.
 
Q. What change in the conditions of my house can I expect?
A. Your house conditions will improve with lower humidity and ammonia levels while still evenly heating the entire length of the house.
